Aztecs
Montezuma was a complex leader who ruled the powerful Aztec Empire with authority and divine status, holding both political and religious power in his hands. He presided over a highly structured and hierarchical society, where tribute was collected from subject city-states, and he maintained control through a well-organized military and an elaborate system of religious ceremonies. However, his leadership was ultimately challenged and undermined by the Spanish conquest led by Hernán Cortés, which resulted in the downfall of the Aztec Empire.
